Bundaberg Red Cup, Southern Sydney Rebels 30 def Campbelltown Eagles 26 22 June 2009

It was another game that got away from the Eagles, The Eagles were first to score 5 minutes into the game through captain Samuel Hoare, Harding converted and the Eagles led 6-0, the Rebels replied 10 minutes later and levelled it up at 6 all, The game turned into a real arm wrestle with both sides showing good solid defence but it was the Eagles that cracked first with the Rebels scoring to hit the led 10-6, 2 minutes before half time the Eagles scored out wide through Pat Franks and the conversion waved away for the team to go level 10 all half time.

The second half seen the Rebels score first and they took the led once again 14-10 but the Eagles replied when Samuel Hoare put a kick through for Amano Tovio to score under the posts for the Eagles to level it up again 14 All, the Eagles made a costly error that seen the Rebels score and hit the led once again 18-14. With 20 minutes remaining the Eagles made there move when Samuel Hoare and Jarryd Eggleton scored tries for the Eagles to go to a 26-18 led, but with 8 minutes remaining the Rebels scored to put the final minutes of the game a thriller with the Eagles leading 26-24, A penalty goal 4 minutes to go seen the Rebels levelled up again 26 all, With 1 minute 20 seconds left on the clock a last ditched effort seen a kick get put through the Rebels pounced to scored and win the game 30-26 in a nail bitter. Players Player for the Eagles went to Pat Franks and the best for the Eagles were Amano Tovio, Samuel Hoare and Faitosa Asa.

Group 6 A Grade East Campbelltown Eagles 16 drew Picton Magpies 16

These 2 teams put on a great game of rugby league leaving nothing in the tank, The Eagles scored first when Chris Standing hitting the gap stepping the fullback to score under the post to take a 6-0 lead. The defence was priority with both teams smashing each other to get the upper hand. With Picton having the majority of the ball they finally cracked the Eagles defence out wide and levelled it up 6 all at the break.

Picton came out strong and it wasn't long before they scored again to take the led 10-6 and when they scored with 20 minutes remaining you would think the game was Picton's to take. But the Eagles showed great spirit to hit back when Roland Gloss went over next to the posts, Michael Stevens hitting the upright missing the kick in difficult conditions for Picton to led 16-10, The Eagles fitness looked good as they come home strong and a try to Centre Vili Vai under the posts levelled the game at 16 all, The Eagles were very unlucky not to take the game when a field goal by John Da-Silva went under the cross bar. Best for the Eagles were Michael Stevens, John Da-Silva and Scott Laurie

Group 6 Reserve Grade East Campbelltown Eagles 22 drew Picton Magpies 22

The Reserve Grade game went down to the wire with the led changing on a number of occasions, The best for the Eagles were Aaron Eagan, Roland Gloss and Jimmy Leulilli

Group 6 Under 18's East Campbelltown Eagles 36 def Ashcroft Stallions 16

The young Eagles dominated the game from the start scoring points at will, there efforts in the second half seen coach Troy Millard disappointed with their completions and something that will be addressed at training Tuesday. Best for the Eagles were Mason Taloua and Barry Lalesi
