The Campbelltown Eagles played Cabramatta at New Era Stadium at Cabramatta, The Eagles started with poor possession in their first 2 sets and Cabramatta capitalised with a try to Matt Lamb 5 minutes into the game and the kick form Andrew Dallalana waved away for Cabra to go 4-0 up, the next 10 minutes was tight from both teams with good defence but it was the Eagles that cracked the drought through a try to Tim Soama at the 17th minute mark, Levi Dodd converted for the Eagles to hit the lead.
Cabra hit back 6 minutes later when a Donny Thompson try and conversion by Andrew Dallallana for Cabra to go back in front 10-6, the next 15 minutes of play seen the best from the Eagles with good defence as well as showing good plays but it was the Eagles new signing Damien Kennedy at the 35th minute mark that received a great ball from hooker Samuel Hoare to crash over the line and Levi Dodd converted for the Eagles to go into the lead again 12-10, the Eagles received a penalty right on half time that seen Levi Dodd kick a penalty goal for the Eagles to go into the halftime sheds with a 14-10 lead over Cabra.
The first 15 minutes in the second half started in a real arm wrestle, both sides stepped up the pace, the Eagles handed over easy possession but had luck turn their way when Tyrone Faliuga scored a lucky try at the 25th minutes and when Levi Dodd converted the Eagles were once again in a commanding lead at 20-10 with 15 minutes to go.
With 10 minutes to go the Eagles dropped the ball on the second tackle and paid for it when Cabramatta scored in the next set of six, Vinnie Uelese missed the conversion that left the score at 20-14. Campbelltown’s Wayde Dunley lead the team towards the posts where he kicked a field goal with 6 minutes remaining that looked like it would give the Eagles victory.
A bad drop ball once again from the kick off seen Cabramatta take full advantage scoring in the very next set once again, ? scored and James Roche kecked the goal for an exciting last 2 minutes of play, with Eagles giving a penalty away getting Cabramatta field possession and with 38 seconds to go on the clock a high tackle from Samuel Hoare seen a penalty to Cabramatta 20 meters out right in front, ? Kicked the goal for Cabramatta winning 22-21 with another loss on the bell for the Campbelltown Eagles best for the Eagles were Korelio Vaiga, Samuel Hoare and Pele Lauluai.
