Group 6 1st Grade East Campbelltown Eagles 34 def Campbelltown City 30 24 April 2010

Great day for the Eagles over City

Campbelltown Stadium was the venue for the local derby but a disappointing crowed was in attendance for what was going to be a great game. Campbelltown City posted first 2 tries but the conversion was unsuccessful, the Eagles hit back through a fantastic backline movement that seen Eagles flyer Craig Moustakas raced 40 meters to score out wide for city to lead 8- 4 the Eagles hit back again through a great placed kick from Brad Hopkins that seen Moustakas bag his second for the day and Sakeasi Rokatabini converted for the Eagles to hit the lead 10-8, the boys got restles and when Jacob Bubba Morgan went toe to toe with Adam Doyle it seen both players get 10 minutes in the bin.

2 tackles later replacement hooker Luke Matter was sent from the field for a dangerous takle that left the Eagles with 11 men, City capitalised and scored a converted try to again take the lead 14-10. Eagles big front rower Nathan Thorson ran over 3 city defenders to score the easiest of tries for the Eagles to level it up at 14-all, with seconds on the clock city scored just before the halftime break to go into the sheds with a 18-14 lead.

The start of the second half seen a great individual try to Chris Standing under the posts and again Rokatabini added the extras for the Eagles to be in front at 20-18, It was the Eagles that scored again when five Eight Brad Hopkins placed a perfect ball on Ben Janskowski’s chest that seen him go over out wide, conversion was unsuccessful.
The Eagles still only playing with 12 men started to tire and the city side picked up a notch scoring 3 consecutive tries but couldn’t kick a stray dog missing all the conversions, City 30 - Eagles 24, The Eagles chanced out wide and come up trumps when Moustakas crossed for his 3rd from a excellent ball from Rokotabini that was probably the try of the day, Jacob Bubba Morgan converted and it was all level at 30 all, the Eagles sealed victory with two late penalty goals both from Bubba Morgan that seen the Eagles walk off winners 34-30, best for the Eagles was Moustakas, Standing, and Janskowski.
