| Bundy Red Cup, Campbelltown v's Oakdale |
9 July 2009 |
The East Campbelltown Eagles A Grade/Res Grade played a home ground game at Victoria Park Picton against Oakdale, Yes Campbelltown played Oakdale at Picton! as there was not a venue in the Campbelltown area available to play the game!
The Oakdale Workers put first points on the board through a try in the first 5 minutes. East Campbelltown's Captain John Da-Silva was sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes and this seen Oakdale run in 2 more tries to lead 14-0, The Eagles finally had some possession and it wasn't long before Chris Standing busted the gap to score under the posts for the Eagles, Michael Steven's converted to bring the game back 14-6 and it stayed that score line until half time.
The start of the second half seen try scorer Chris Standing sent off in the very first minute of the half for swearing leaving the Eagles with 12 men for the rest of the game, but that only inspired the Eagles as the picked up the tempo they scored next when the Oakdale's fullback dropped the ball, for big Joe Ioane scooping up to score, Michael Stevens converted and the Eagles were back 14-12.
It was a piece of individual brilliance from Luke Healy that got the Eagles the lead, Healy busted the defence line and raced 40 meters to score in the corner, again Michael Stevens Converted and the Eagles hit the lead 18-14, the match winner came 9 minutes from full time when on a John Da-Silva kick seen Craig Moustakas dive on the loose ball to score in the corner and the Eagles defeating Oakdale 22-14, Best for the Eagles were George Peterson, Scott Laurie, Luke Healy and John Da-Silva
The Reserve grade game, The Eagles ran out winners 30-10
