East Campbelltown Eagles player Michael Stevens has taken out the 1st Grade player of the year at Saturday night's West Juniors Annual Presentation Dinner.
Even though the West Juniors and Group 6 1st Grade Competition was Combined for the 2009 season, it was organised by the administrators of the competition to have two separate presentations distinguishing the Group 6 Player of the year and the West Juniors player of the year.
Five Eight Michael Stevens edged out two of his team mates from East Campbelltown Eagles for the award, John Da-Silva who won the Jim Beam Cup player of the year in 2008 and front rower Ashley Tohi also being nominated for the 1st Grade player of the Year.
20 year old Michael Stevens has had an amazing year and found himself playing Bundaberg Cup for the Campbelltown Eagles in round 6. Michael showed his talent and played a major part for the Campbelltown Eagles defeating Windsor Wolves 48-22.
Michael played 4 games for the Campbelltown Eagles Bundaberg Cup winning 3 before coming to an injury and then having to return to 1st Grade where he once again dominated play for the Eagles. Michael Stevens scored 12 tries in 10 games and kicked 61 goals for the season finishing with a tally of 150 points.
